Hi everyone! Today we are joined by two special guests, our co-founders and co-CEOs Rémi Aubert and Alix de Sagazan to share some very exciting news …
Q: So we’re dying to hear … what’s the big news?
Alix: We’re pleased to announce that AB Tasty has acquired Epoq, a reco and search pure player based in Germany. This makes AB Tasty the first in our class to offer the market a consolidated approach to delivering relevant and consistent digital customer experiences.
We are super excited to start this new chapter!
Q: Why did you decide to do an acquisition?
Rémi: The pandemic introduced an e-commerce boom and some monumental shifts in consumer shopping habits, with over half of transactions coming from search requests and a third of that from recommendations.
Now when we’re using the search bar on e-commerce sites, we’re expecting the same level of precision as we get with Google search results. It’s complex and difficult for businesses to develop the sophisticated technology needed to meet these needs and stay competitive.
This means it’s now more important than ever to deliver a “wow” digital experience for customers. To do that, we want to remove the disjointed experience when it comes to implementing multiple solutions into one tech stack by building a fully consolidated approach that addresses the most relevant issues when it comes to experience optimization.
This is where Epoq comes in.
Q: Why did you choose Epoq in particular?
Alix: The answer is very simple: When it comes to recommendation and search, Epoq is way ahead of the competition!
For AB Tasty, we were envisioning a set of tools that could complement what already exists in our product suite of client-side and server-side experimentation and personalization solutions.
We were impressed with Epoq’s sophisticated AI-powered algorithms and customization. Their e-commerce solution addresses every part of the customer journey and perfectly complemented our own offering.
We also share some fundamental values: team spirit and enthusiasm for everything we do. We had a chance to personally meet the team over the summer and we already felt like we were one team working towards similar goals.
Q: What is different about Epoq’s recommendation and search engines?
Rémi: Search engines and recommendations don’t have the capability to communicate with each other in most modern tech stacks, which negatively impacts the user experience.
What Epoq essentially does is connect these two solutions where each action feeds the other, so only the most relevant products are displayed for customers to get them from search to check- out faster by providing personalized searches and recommendations that cater to the needs of every individual customer.
Then, linking AB Tasty will help personalize products to enhance results and build one coherent personalized customer journey.
Q: What will this mean for your partners?
Alix: We are committed to providing a best-in-class experience optimization platform and with Epoq, alongside our partners, we can provide better and more relevant experiences that accelerate innovation.
Our partners play a key role in shaping the future of AB Tasty and so we’re excited to embark on this journey together and shed more light on our new product offering.
Q: How can this benefit clients of AB Tasty and Epoq?
Rémi: Our customers are at the heart of everything we do — and this acquisition was done with them in mind. With Epoq, we can provide our customers with the most sophisticated tools that function seamlessly together in their marketing tech stack.
Investing in AI-driven recommendations and site search solutions is our way of saying that we’re doubling down on experience optimization. We know our customers need to experiment and personalize every part of the digital experience to stay competitive.
Q: What’s next for AB Tasty?
Alix: Now that the news is out, we’re focused on working closely with our new colleagues and our partners and clients. There’s going to be a lot of close collaboration and knowledge sharing in the weeks and months ahead. It’s a genuinely exciting time to bring two teams together.
And of course, we’ve got some more news up our sleeves. Stay tuned!
